I once underestimated the psychological effect of lack of money in one’s life until I found myself not having money due to wasteful spending. Admittedly, I took this matter for granted, as many of us don’t take this valuable lesson as a grain of salt until we find ourselves in a ditch. At some point in my life, I wasted much of my energy, resources, and time around so-called friends until that “One Day” came. When I realized I had utterly drained five thousand dollars in cash on useless activities, I engaged in at the time. My awakening referring to that one day, came on a Sunday morning in 2003, and I felt the need to make a drastic yet straightforward change and avoided heading down on a free fall.
Step One: As hard as it was, I had to learn to say NO to invitations for purely entertainment and set high expectations to find ways and means to recover my losses rapidly and start generating and adapt a new way of saving and investing.
Step Two: Detaching from anyone who did not share my set of values or add value to my life and associate and listen to those striving and successful.
Unless you’ve experienced it, it is such a wonderful feeling to be free from this so-called modern-day slavery (DEBT). Living a worry-free life, walking in confidence, and feeling rested each day is a state of mind I aspire for everyone who is receptive and willing to listen and learn.
